A stock with a mystery.

My first post and hopefully someone can solve the mystery with this stock. It's not the strange use of Allegorical figure of navigation with her sexton that appears on a railroad certificate . No I am wondering about the second set of numbers that appear above the vignette. Any idea what the no. 9676 is? It's not the serial number which is no. 3306. Terry Cox had no clue. Hopefully a collector out on the web can solve the mystery.

  1. Hi Pete,

Interesting question. I don't remember seeing anything like this ( a share with two numbers). Hm..maybe the number of the certificate corresponds to the original certificate in the company before its reorganization.

    1. Hi Franky,
That is interesting idea. This started me thinking the numbers indicated old bonds that were exchanged for these 2nd preferred shares. I’m having doubts about that theory now. Checking ebay for existing Marietta & Cincinnati railroad 2nd preferred the numbers seem to progress based on issue date. Well the mystery continues.
Thanks for replying to my post.
